Reductil (sibutramine) is a potent prescription drug that has be specially designed for the needs of obese people that are unable to lose weight by simply dieting and exercising. Make sure you follow all the recommendations of your health care provider. Before starting the treatment it's important to mention any factors that may affect the success of your treatment negatively. You will need to make sure there are no contraindications in your particular case. You may be taking some MAO inhibitors, for example, such as selegiline, tranylcypromine, isocarboxazid, phenelzine, or some other ones – and that can be dangerous if you start taking Reductil. At least 14 days are supposed to pass from the last time you took a MAO inhibitor. Other drugs you are using must also be reported, as some of them can make Reductil less efficient, while other ones will add to the side effects you may experience. The following meds are important to report if you want to make sure your treatment is going just as planned: antidepressants, tryptophan, ergot medicines, narcotic pain medications, migraine headache medicines, and lithium. Reductil should be taken for quite some time, but not longer than 2 years.
